Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables is the story of a young orphan girl who is the ultimate dreamer. Anne dreams her way through life. When she is 13 a family she goes to live with a family on Prince Edward Island or so she thinks. Marilla and Matthew and older brother and sister sent for a boy but Anne was sent by mistake. Anne of Green Gables is the story of how Anne wins the heart of Matthew and then Marilla and ultimately the whole town of Avonlea. Along the way Anne and her Bosom friend Dianna Barry got into many scrapes and learned many life lessons. Also the hero of the story is the wonderful (sigh) Gilbert Blythe who is madly in love with Anne from the moment he met her but she hates him because he called her carrots.

Marilla and Anne

Marilla really didn't understand Anne, though she loved her. Marilla at first was a strict almost cold person but it didn't take long for Anne to break through Marilla's shell. When Anne goes of to school Marilla tells Matthew that it wasn't a mistake that Anne was sent instead of a boy that God knew they needed her.

Anne of Avonlea is the continuing story of Anne. In this one Gilbert finally confesses his love for Anne but she tells him she will never love him the way he wants her to. This is the story of how Anne tries to find her place in life. Though older and wiser she still gets into scrapes. As she states at the end of the movie I went looking for my dreams outside myself only to find the dreams most dear to me are right here

Gil gets sick

Anne realizes when she finds out Gil could die that she really does love him. She goes to see him and give him the book she wrote about Avonlea when she tells him she was going to save it for a wedding gift he tells her there isn't going to be a wedding. she tells him he is going to get better but he says he called the wedding off because there will never be anyone but her for him.

In case you can't tell I adore Anne and Gilbert. I love that no matter how much Anne ignored Gil that he never stopped loving her. I think Gil is the most wonderful guy, and hope to find my own Gilbert someday. Most people that know the movie and know me say i am Anne, in 5th grade my teacher gave me the Anne Shirley award.... we had just watched Anne of Green Gables and he was giving us all charecters, to this day i have lived up to that.

After Gilbert teases Anne about her hair he say's he's sorry but Anne has decided she will never forgive him. After Marilla finds out that Anne broke her slate over gilberts head she desides that Anne can stay at Green Gables ( she was there on trial) Marilla states that Anne might be a Kindred spirit after all.

Matthew Cuthbert

Matthew is incredibly shy and afraid to talk to girls. He adores Anne and gets her everything he thinks she might like. In turn Anne adores Matthew.

Gilbert Blythe

Gilbert Blythe is two years older but in Anne and Diana's class. All the girls think he is the most wonderful guy around except Anne. And he is in love with Anne. Anne and Gilbert are the two best students and compete with each other for the highest grade. No matter what Gil does Anne won't talk to him it isn't untill they both tie for the highest test score for Queens college and Gil saves her when her boat sinks that she finally gives in and agrees to be friends.

Gil gives Anne his post at the Avonlea school so she can stay home with Marilla after Matthew dies. this is when the true truse was called. Gil tells Anne that he was taking the school in the next town and that they can help each other with there studies (corrispondance work for a university) and she says arent you worried i am liable to break another slate oer your head. he looks at her and say i more worried that i might break one over yours... carrots. this is when their friendship begins.

Gilbert and Anne go their own ways, Anne to teach at a ladies college and Gilbert to Medical school. Gilbert gets engaged with a girl there and when he sees Anne he tells her and finally convinces her to write a story about Avonlea instead of the silly school girl romances as he calls the stories she writes. (Annes dream is to be a writer).

After Gil gets better Anne and him go for a walk.
